Lost in all the celebration of the Oilers game 2 victory over the San Jose Sharks Friday night was the fact that their number one defensemen, Oscar Klefbom, left the game and did not return after blocking a shot in the third period.

Well, good news Oilers fans…you can stop holding your breath. Klefbom announced to the media this morning that he’s fine and he’ll be good to go for game 3 in San Jose tomorrow.

It’s obviously tremendous news for a young Oilers team that’s been heavily dependant on the defensive pairing of Klefbom and Adam Larsson all season long. On Wednesday’s series opener, Klefbom led all Oilers blue liners in ice time and did a tremendous job of limiting the Sharks scoring chances during 5 on 5 play. There’s really no understating the importance of the 23 year old Swede to his team’s lineup.

If the Oilers are to shock the hockey world and pull off an upset on the defending Western Conference champion Sharks, they’ll need a healthy Klefbom playing at the top of his game.
