So, how about yesterday's night, eh? After many years covering the sport, these nights always get our blood pumping.

Anyway, let's begin with the Ben Bishop deal that happened around 7 p.m. yesterday. It was known that Bishop was begin shopped around for a few weeks, being UFA at the end of the season and all. The teams interested in him were many, but surprisingly the L.A. Kings won the derby in dramatic fashion.

With Jonathan Quick coming back from a long injury only Saturday, the Kings seemed good to go on the goalie side of things. Actually, Peter Budaj did an excellent job while Quick was away and people expected him to remain as a competent and experienced backup.

The deal went as follow:

The L.A. Kings received goalie Ben Bishop and a 2017 fifth-round pick

In exchange, the Tampa Bay Lightning received goalie Peter Budaj, defenseman Erik Cernak, a seventh-round pick in 2017 and another conditional pick in the same year, to be determined by Bishop's performance. Tampa Bay will retain 20% of Bishop's salary on the cap hit for the remainder of the season as well.

All in all, the Kings arguably present the best goalie duo in the league. With Quick healed 100% and Bishop in peak performance condition, picking the goalie will be a fun challenge every night. It's not the kind of deal where you can pick winners and losers easily, but it seems like a fair priced paid to rent a top goalie for a deep playoffs run, on the L.A. side.
