Tom Wilson has developed a reputation as one of the most polarizing hitters in the NHL, but he has also had questionable moments.

That continued on Saturday, as the Washington Capitals' forward threw a questionable hit against the Anaheim Ducks. The bruising winger incited controversy by laying into Ducks' forward Andrew Cogliano, with what many believe to be a cheap shot.

Cogliano breaks into the Caps' zone and hands the puck off to a teammate, unaware that he's in Wilson's sights. Wilson follows through with the late hit sends Cogliano to the ice, with both teams exchanging pleasantries after the whistle.

Wilson appears to make contact with Cogliano's head, but whether there was malicious intent is up for debate.

Wilson was assessed a two-minute minor for interference for the hit, a decision that is also making waves.

While Wilson has never been suspended for a dirty hit, he is known for throwing the body with devastating force. Some of his previous hits have drawn attention from the NHL and it seems likely the league will review this one.

Despite a clean record, the NHL might deem this hit too dangerous to give Wilson the benefit of the doubt.
