Sean Avery has a book coming out, and apparently, it’s going to “going to blow your mind”.

“Ice Capades: A Memoir of Fast Living and Tough Hockey”, is billed as Avery’s tell-all, behind the scenes account of his dozen years in the NHL. It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Avery has a few things to say, he’s not stranger to speaking his mind.

Known as much for his antics off the ice, as for his unorthodox and controversial playing style on it, Avery was a lightning rod of criticism and ire throughout his entire career.

He played for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Dallas Stars, but he’s best known for his time with the New York Rangers, for whom he played for six seasons.

He made a career as a pest, an agitator, and a pigeon. Nobody liked Avery, unless he was on your team. Feuds with players, teammates, and even his own coaches often overshadowed his actual hockey career, and Avery will certainly have an perspective to share on his infamous career.

The NHL, and likely almost anyone but Rangers fans, probably thought that Avery’s only real legacy was the “Avery Rule” (for his…innovative…screening technique against Martin Brodeur during the 2008 playoffs.

According to Avery however, his book will blow the roof off of your perceptions of the NHL and professional hockey players. He may be done with hockey, be he certainly isn’t done chirping.

“Ice Capades: A Memoir of Fast Living and Tough Hockey” is due out September 26th, 2017.
