Initial update from Sullivan on Aston-Reese does not sound promising.

Bad news for the Penguins.

Well this certainly does not sound good and it could not have come at a worse time for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On Sunday night the aforementioned Penguins and the Boston Bruins faced off in an important match up between two teams in the Eastern Conference looking to secure their playoff seeding ahead of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Not only are both these teams hoping to be playoff bound but this could even prove to be a playoff match up in the later stages of the bracket should both teams find a way to move on.

It was the Penguins who would walk away the big winners on the evening toppling a Bruins team that honestly looked very flat out there for a team that had picked up a point in at least 19 straight games. The Bruins came out of the gate looking tired and the Penguins pounced on that opportunity to build an early lead and never really looked back on their way to a 4 - 2 victory over a tough Bruins squad. Unfortunately it was not all good news for the Penguins on the evening this time around.

During the game's second period Penguins forward Zachary Aston-Reese suddenly left the game. He took off around the 14:00 mark of the second period although I must admit I'm not exactly what happened that caused him to leave the game. What I do know for certain is that Aston-Reese would not return to the game on the evening a very troubling sign for the Penguins.

Following the game it was unsurprisingly one of the very first questions that Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan faced when addressing the media and his initial comments did not sound very promising at all. Sullivan did in fact confirm that Aston-Reese had been injured but he would not provide any details regarding the injury and indicated that evaluations still needed to be made in spite of the fact that significant time had already passed following his departure from the game.

"He has a lower-body injury," confirmed Sullivan. "Right now he's being evaluated. I don't have an answer for you."

This would appear to indicate that Aston-Reese is going to miss some time, very bad news for a team fighting to maintain their hold on the playoffs.
