The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that they’ve placed forward Carter Rowney on injury reserve with a hand injury.

The 28-year-old winger sustained the injury during Saturday’s awful 7-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, but so far the team hasn’t officially listed the severity of the injury and Rowney’s expected return date.

In nine games for the Pens this season Rowney has one goal and two points. The big winger was called up to the big club from the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins prior to the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs and worked his way into a regular rotation on the team’s fourth line.

The team will miss his physicality and toughness.
