Injury report: Bruins likely to start the season without two key forwards
KeyStone Press

The Boston Bruins will unfortunately likely be without two key players tonight in their home opener against the Nashville Predators, most notably their top center.

Patrice Bergeron has been listed as 'day-to-day' by the team with a lower body injury, and has missed the last few practices with the team.

As for David Backes, the veteran forward who signed with the Bruins in July 2016, he is out due to illness and is considered 'questionable' for tonight's matchup according to Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa.

Bergeron posted 21 goals and 32 assists in 2016-17, while Backes netted 17 and added 21 helpers.

Center Ryan Spooner will likely draw in as the team's top center on opening night, with Anders Bjork and Brad Marchand flanking him on the wings.
