Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall has announced that veteran defenseman Andrew MacDonald will be out of the team’s lineup for 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury.

MacDonald, one of the Flyers’ alternate captains, was injured during the team’s 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers yesterday, but managed to finish the game with 22 minutes of ice time.

It’s believed that MacDonald suffered the injury after blocking a Mark Letestu slap shot:

Ouch. That’s gotta hurt.

With Brandon Manning currently on the Flyers’ roster as a seventh Dman, look for him to draw in the lineup for the team’s next game on Tuesday agains the Anaheim Ducks.
