24-year-old left winger Scott Wilson is getting closer to a return to the lineup, good news for a Penguins team suffering late-season injury woes.

Although Wilson won’t return to the lineup against he Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday March 21st, he is reportedly very close to his return.

Wilson has a bit of a history of injuries, and his delayed return might be a way to keep him healthy moving forward. He went down with a wrist/arm injury in a game against Carolina in January, and had to undergo surgery to correct a lower-body injury late last season.

Despite some bad luck with injuries recently, Wilson is a young player that absolutely oozes potential. He has seen time on the line with Evgani Malkin this season (who is also currently out of the lineup with an upper-body injury), and will likely be part of the Penguins’ plans for the future.

Pittsburgh is suffering from the injury bug at the moment, and the young winger hopefully won’t be out much longer. The 5’11, 183 lbs lefty from Oakville, Ontario has 7 goals and 16 assists through 68 games with the Penguins in his first full season with the club.

The Penguins sit third in the Metoropolitan Division with a 45-17-9 record worth 99 points, a single point back of the two way tie for first place in the division between the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets.
