INJURY REPORT: Injured Senator will likely miss Game 5 in Ottawa

The Ottawa Senators will have to try and finish out their series against the Boston Bruins without the help of Tom Pyatt.

Pyatt, 30, has been an valuable depth forward for Ottawa this season, notching 9 goals and 14 assists in 82 games this season while maintaining a +/- of plus-9. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has been making the most out his time with the Senators after playing in the Swiss-A league for the last two seasons.

Ottawa signed Pyatt to a one-year, deal worth about $800,000, he had also played for the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning across his 327-game NHL career.

Boston defenseman Kevan Miller caught Pyatt with a heavy hit in the first period of Game 4 in Boston, he was forced to leave the ice and did not return. He is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Pyatt may not be a huge scoring threat or a pivotal two-way grinder, but the veteran presence and energy he brought to Ottawa’s bottom six forwards could be sorely missed as the Senators return home to try and close out the Bruins.

Ottawa took a close Game 4 in Boston to take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven opening round series, and there’s little reason to think that Game 5 will buck that trend.

Boston is desperately trying to overcome a devastating injury bug that has ravaged the Bruins’ blueline. Defensemen Torey KrugBrandon Carlo, and Adam McQuaid are all still sideline for the Bruins.

Game 5 will be played Friday, April 21st in Ottawa.
