Official Statement Made by Coach Sullivan
While the morning skate is over, one key player was still missing on the ice for the Pittsburgh Penguins. As reported by NHL’s Dan Rosen Bonino, who surprisingly still had his foot AND returned to play after blocking Subban’s shot, is the one player missing from Pens’ practice. Yesterday, a video was captured of Bonino leaving and in that video he can clearly be seen leaning heavily on his crutches as he keeps his foot elevated well off the ground despite being in a walking boot.
Coach Sullivan commented on if Bonino would play in Game 3 or who would replace him in the lineup: “All those guys will be game-time decisions."
This would be a devastating loss for the Pens as they will probably face their toughest challenge of the series on game 3.
