NHL coach, gambling with the health of one of his core players?

Florida Panthers star defenseman Aaron Ekblad received a dirty hit to the head, offered with regards by Gabriel Dumont. The sequence was followed by intense brawling, Dumont being attacked on many fronts.

Since then, Ekblad is out of the play due concussion. It’s not the first time that Ekblad is suffering from concussion and insiders start to believe the Florida Panthers should take this case seriously and be very careful with their star player.

Things turned out quickly as Tom Rowe announced Monday Ekblad would miss seven to 10 days recovering. Problem is the recovery period be longer than that as Ekblad, 21, has as many concussions as NHL seasons played. It’s time to protect the players.

Matt Larkin has his own interpretation of why Ekblad is back in the lineup and you must admit he’s not wrong on that one. In a short tweet, Larkin said, “Ekblad back in the lineup tonight? WHY? The Panthers are EIGHT points out of a playoff spot. Protect your star’s brain. Please.”
