Injury report: Okposo's recovery after life-threatening ordeal

Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo scared everyone in the National Hockey League when he was rushed in a neuro intensive care unit with an undisclosed medical condition, back in April. There were concerns about his future, both on and off the ice: at some point, many people thought he would not be able to play again.

But we have good news for you, Sabres fans. The 29-year-old has fully recovered from concussion-related symptoms that threatened his life and career this spring. On Tuesday, he jumped on the ice in Buffalo for the first time since the health scare.

"It was obviously a tough situation, a tough road,” Okposo said to NHL on NBC. “I’m just happy to be back and happy to be able to play again, and play at a high level.”

“It was definitely a scary thing,” Okposo added. “Your mind starts to question a lot of things.”

But no more questions about his return: he is ready for NHL action!

Okposo is a former 7th overall pick in the 2006 NHL draft. He played 594 games with the New York Islanders and the Sabres, in which he recorded 158 goals and 256 assists for 414 points, as well as 334 penalty minutes. He amassed 45 points in 65 games last season.
