Star forward set to miss game time.

The Detroit Red Wings can pride themselves on accumulating quite a few points in recent times, having racked up 8 out of a possible 10 points in their last five games.

Of course, with success comes obstacles, and head coach Jeff Blashill's troops have had to endure injuries to key players all season long, including to players who have been hurt more than once during the 2016-2017 regular season.

Add Thomas Vanek to that list, who after taking a puck to his "lower body" (if you know what I mean), is slated to miss at least the team's next game on Tuesday night in Boston.

This would be the second time this season that Vanek is sidelined due to an injury, and the revelation of the "Farewell Season at the Joe" will surely be missed as Andreas Athanasiou has developed a one-two punch chemistry with the Austrian winger.

More updates to follow shortly.
