INJURY REPORT: Wild forward goes under the knife
Keystone Press

As first reported yesterday, the Minnesota Wild have officially confirmed that forward Jason Zucker has undergone successful surgery to repair a sport’s hernia.

The 25 year-old speedster is expected to make a full recovery in time for the opening of training camp for the 2017-18 NHL season. The news comes as relief to Wild fans who saw Zucker break out in a big way this season with 22 goals and 47 points in 79 games.

It’s unclear exactly how Zucker suffered the injury, but it’s a notoriously difficult injury to recover from. The fact that Zucker will have the entire offseason to rehabilitate himself should be at least seen as a silver lining. The Wild will be counting on Zucker to build of his successful 2016-17 campaign and assert himself as a mainstay of the team’s top six forward group moving forward.
