Another play has bit the dust at the World Cup of Hockey.

After taking a hard shot off the foot during the second period of Team Europe's semi-final contest against Sweden, Los Angeles King Marian Gaborik was clearly hurt, but he continued to play so many assume he was fine, perhaps even Gaborik felt his injury was a minor one.

However we have learned that is not the case, according to a report from Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times, general manager Dean Lombardi has informed her that Gaborik will need eight weeks to recover from the injury.

It's a massive blow to the Kings who will now lose one of their most experienced players, and it would also explain why Gaborik was spotted leaving the Air Canada Center on crutches this morning with his foot in a cast.

We still don't know the exact nature of his injury.
