Erik Karlsson admitted he’s “tired of talking about it”, referring to the hairline fractures in his foot, an injury he’s been suffering through since the end of March.

They tried to keep it secret at first, but Ottawa’s captain eventually came out and said he was playing injured.

“I’m not much for secrets” Erik Karlsson said, confirming that he’s fine with admitting he was hurt because, “It’s probably something that’s not going to affect me anymore moving forward. It’s something that’s done with. I just felt like getting it out of the way instead of having it keep lingering on.”

Some have questioned whether the Norris Trophy finalist should have said anything about being hurt, but it certainly didn’t look to have affected his play.

Head Coach Guy Boucher said they had no issue with Karlsson’s disclosure, adding:

“It was a scare for us… It seemed like [his injury] was getting worse, but it stayed where it was. At that point, we were all playing. We’re good now… That’s why he said it. If it wasn’t over he wouldn’t have said anything. He’s perfectly health now”.

Great news for Senators fans as they prepare for their Second Round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the New York Rangers.
Game 1 will be on Thursday, April 27th in Ottawa.
