Insider believes elite level goaltender will be traded in the regular season.

The rumors had died down quite a bit with the start of the regular season but now it sounds once again like a trade of Pittsburgh Penguins star goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is very much a possibility. It comes as no surprise that this comes after the announcement of the new Las Vegas franchise on Tuesday, a sign that the National Hockey League Expansion Draft is getting very close indeed.

ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun stated on the latest segment of Insider Trading that he believes the Penguins will move Fleury before the trade deadline despite the Penguins stating they are conformable moving forward with both Fleury and Matt Murray on their roster.

LebBrun added that he believes teams that are very much in need of a true number one goaltender will increase their offers as the trade deadline draws near, and the Penguins will be receptive to those offers when they come. Furthermore he believes the move must be made by Pittsburgh or they would lose  Matt Murray to the expansion draft, something they absolutely will not be risking.

No word from LeBrun on what teams will step up, but one has to imagine that teams with poor goaltending would be at the top of the list. If I were to speculate I would list the Calgary Flames, Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and perhaps even bitter rivals the Philadelphia Flyers as teams that would have interest in Fleury.
