NHL captain wants out?

One of the National Hockey League's top insiders made some extremely interesting comments on Thursday when he suggested that a captain in the National Hockey League would welcome a trade away from the team he currently leads.

During a segment of Hockey Central at Noon, Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos stated his belief that Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty and his team would both benefit from a trade.

"He is not thriving there right now and there's no reason to suggest that he will thrive again as a bonafide NHL goal scorer surrounded with the players that he has there."

Kypreos believes Pacioretty should not be a captain on any team, and would better be suited in the role of a secondary star much in the way Phil Kessel has been for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite that Kypreos believes Pacioretty is a proud man, one who wouldn't go to management to request a trade.

"He would never ask to be traded in my opinion, but it would be refreshing for him to get out of there."

TVA's Louis Jean who was a guest on the show seemed to by and large agree with Kypreos' assessment although he questioned the message trading Pacioretty would send to the rest of the locker room. Furthermore Jean clearly placed higher value on Pacioretty than Kyreos did as the latter suggested he would have dealt Pacioretty for a player like Sami Vatanen.

Could we see the Habs trade yet another star player? This time one wearing the "C" on his chest?
