Insider believes talented young defenseman will be traded.

When it comes to reporting rumors, insiders will often hedge their bets, this is not one of those cases, Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman appears to believe that a talented young defenseman will soon traded.\

Friedman was a guest on 630 CHED this week when he was asked about the possibility of 24 year old Colorado Avalanche defeseman Tyson Barrie being dealt by the Avalanche over the summer, and his answer left little room for doubt.

“You know what, I do think Tyson Barrie is going to go," said Friedman as per Nichols on Hockey.

“I did a game there where Montreal was in Denver. Don Meehan was there at the time with Craig Oster. They’re the Newport guys who handle Barrie. I just got the impression from everybody involved that they weren’t really even in the same ballpark.

“Knowing the way they finished their year, I’ve got to think it’s very likely he moves on.”

Friedman did not speculate on a potential landing destination for Barrie, but a young right handed shooting defenseman will be a hot commodity.
