Insider believes trade is coming, says team is at 'DEFCON 1'

It sounds like we almost certainly have some form of trade coming down the pipeline.

For a long time now we have heard that the Minnesota Wild have been involved in trade discussions, specifically when it comes to acquiring a forward, but nothing has yet materialized despite multiple rumors involving high profile players like Ryan Johansen and Jonathan Drouin.

Now however it seems like Minnesota is at the end of it's rope and according to Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman the team is now in "DEFCON 1" and something has to give.

"I think like most GMs, you'd rather make a trade than (fire) the coach, but we are getting to DEFCON 1 in Minnesota," said Friedman.

The objective for Minnesota still appears to be a forward, but according to Nichols on Hockey it sounds like Drouin may not be an option unless the demands from Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman change.

Yzerman was looking for bigger F, "probably Coyle or Niederreiter" Minnesota Wild didn't want to do the deal.

However if Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher is feeling the desperation, he may feel forced to make a move.
