The Sedin twins have arguably been the most often criticized duo in the National Hockey League over the past several years and it sounds like one of the NHL's top insiders is a little fed up with that.

On Wednesday ESPN's Pierre Lebrun made a pair of very strong statements regarding the Sedins first praising the two men for both their play and their character, and also taking the time to slam their critics.

“I think they were two of the best players in the entire World Cup,” said Lebrun as per Nichols on Hockey. “I was completely wowed by their effort. It’s a pity their coach didn’t unleash that team more. I think it’s crazy how the Swedes sat back."

“But I thought the Sedins looked in mid-season form. I think the Canucks are going to be treated for that fact that they got so prepared for that World Cup. They looked outstanding to me, and obviously that chemistry is already there with Loui Eriksson. I think they’re going to have an outstanding year. There’s no question."

However it was his criticism of the critics that really stood out during the interview, with Lebrun speaking from a position oif what seemed like exasperation, going so far as to call out one of the NHL's biggest names for his behavior towards them.

“I’ve got to say… I don’t know what happened, but obviously the Sedins somehow were – something was said to them,” began LeBrun. “It just angers me. I’m tired of what the twins have had to put up with during their careers. I’ve covered this league for 21 years, and I don’t know if I’ve met two classier guys in the entire game than Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Who work their tails off, who are durable, who are character guys – who keep putting up numbers, by the way – who do everything in the community there. Like, what else do you want from these guys? And why do people still feel like they can take liberties with them?

“It really – my blood boils whenever this comes up. Just as it did during the 2011 Cup Final. I think it was Marchand that was punching one of the twins.

“The lack of respect that has happened in and out for the twins over the years, I think, is appalling. And it really pisses me off.”

The Sedin twins have the support of one of the best in the business, now it remains to be seen if his faith has been well placed.
