The Boston Bruins kick off training camp for the 2017-18 season this morning but one prominent player will be missing: David Pastrnak. The 21-year-old sniper has been embroiled in a nasty contract saga with Bruins management and ownership for the better part of the summer, but one NHL insider, TSN’s Darren Dreger, suggests that some progress is being made in negotiations this morning.

Well… that’s encouraging. At the very least this is the first positive news Bruins fans have heard from either side during the past few weeks of negotiation. While Pastrnak remains in his native Czech Republic during negotiations, he has stayed in good shape and is skating in his hometown, so he shouldn’t have too much rust to shake off if he can come to an agreement with the team before training camp ends.
