While insider Pierre LeBrun doesn’t expect any major news to come from Tuesday’s meeting between the NHL and NHLPA Return to Play committee, he still had some important information to report.

The NHL and NHLPA Return to Play committee meeting has been moved up from Wednesday to Tuesday afternoon, seeing that it fit better in the weekly schedule.

However, LeBrun notes there could be an agreement by the end of May when it comes to issues such as a possible end-of-season format.

That’s what fans are eager to hear ever since the NHL was brought to a halt two months ago on March 12 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Toronto Maple Leafs’ John Tavares, Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid, Winnipeg Jets’ Mark Scheifele, Philadelphia Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk and Ottawa Senators’ Ron Hainsey accepted roles on the committee, which includes high-ranking officials from the NHL and NHLPA. They have met once a week for the past few.

They have been trying to find the best solutions possible in order to map out potential scenarios for resuming play.

We will have to wait a few more weeks to see if LeBrun was right about this.
