Is he really worth it?
NBC Chicago

Last season Artemi Panarin was one of the most sought out individuals last year being courted by up to 10 teams at once including the Chicago Blackhawks.

Fortunately, Panarin could not pass up the chance to play side by side with star players such as Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.  His performance with the Blackhawks last season was incredible to say the least, going from undrafted rookie to obtaining an impressive 30 goals, 77 points and recipient of the Calder Memorial Trophy.

The rookie forward was worth every penny at a $812,500 cap hit but due to performance bonuses negotiated before the season began, Panarin received up to $2.575 million.

With the 2016-2017 NHL regular season just around the corner Blackhawks management have had to make tough choices in order to creatively maneuver the team in respect to the cap.  Is it worth sacrificing the potential to bring in other young players such as Alexandre Fortin and Gustav Forsling?

Both players are looking like they can bring in big numbers as Panarin has during his first season with the Blackhawks.
