Is it time to start being concerned about the injury to Evgeny Malkin?

At first the report was that Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin was expected to miss two games with a nagging lower body injury, then after those two games had come and gone Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters that Malkin would miss one more game. Now, after already missing three games to deal with that injury, it sounds like Evgeni Malkin still isn't close to coming back and now head coach Mike Sullivan is trying to tell reporters that this is not a long term injury.

However a report from Penguins reporter Wes Crosby has revealed the Malkin will be sitting out for at least the rest of the week and is being listed as day to day in his recovery. Sullivan indicated to Wes that the Penguins were trying to "expedite this process" something that doesn't' sound conducive to him healing up.

The Penguins, and more specifically their medical staff, have come under fire in the past for the way they've handled their players, and with such a short original estimate on Malkin's absence, and now a projection of at least another week of inactivity, one has to wonder how Evgeni Malkin is being handled, and just how serious this injury might actually be.
