It's not looking good for Boston and Loui Eriksson.

He would be a great fit on any number of teams.

It sounds like the Boston Bruins, and more specifically their upper management, took yet another gamble that will not pay off.

According to a report from Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports the Bruins and veteran forward Loui Eriksson are not close to a deal. Lavoie specifically sites the length of term as the core roadblock in the negotiations and indicates that Eriksson will be a free agent on July 1st.

It's honestly a disaster for Boston who will lose arguably the most valuable chip they got in the Tyler Seguin trade for absolutely nothing, something that could have easily been avoided.

At the trade deadline the Bruins felt that the offers they received for Eriksson were insufficient, and they instead opted to stay the course, even adding some pieces at the deadline, only to miss the postseason anyways.

Bruins management will need to work some magic in the offseason or the uproar from fans is likely to be deafening.
