As part of our Countdown to Puck Drop series during the month of September, today we take a deep dive on the Minnesota Wild.

After four straight first or second round playoff exits under the Mike Yeo regime, the Minnesota Wild finally looked ready to break through in 2016-17 under new head coach Bruce Boudreau. But then… they ran into Jake Allen and the St. Louis Blues. Despite matching up well against the Blues, Allen managed to steal the first two games of the series and the Wild’s fate was sealed.

Now, after some offseason re-tooling the Wild are hopeful that they can get back to the dance again, but are looking to put forth a better performance in 2017-18. Make no mistake, as always with Boudreau’s teams the Wild will be judged on playoff results this upcoming season. Another 100+ point season won’t mean much if the team goes out in the first round again with their tail between their legs. Either way, it’s bound to be an interesting season in the State of Hockey!
