For those who missed it, here's the Montreal Canadiens outburst as they scored 6 goals in the opening period. Both Calvin Pickard and Semyon Varlamov couldn't stop the bleeding as they allowed 3 goals each.


Colorado Avalanche's captain Gabriel Landeskog, who was just coming back from an injury that kept him aside for 10 games, was ashamed of his team performance. "Disappointing probably doesn't even do it.It was embarrassing, we got our ass whooped tonight." said Landeskog

What happened in the first ten minutes? That's a good question. Here's the captain answer: "Obviously they're a good team, they're a fast team. They played hard and took it to us but you've got to be able to withstand the pressure as well. It felt like everything they were throwing at the net, we weren't ready, we weren't picking up sticks." That comment sounded like it was aimed at the Avalanche's defensive core who weren't ready for this game as they couldn't "withstand the pressure" or "pick up sticks [in front of the net]". A defense that was performing badly, even before they had to deal with Erik Johnson injury
