Jackets’ Harrington comes to the defense of… Marchand!

A lot has been said and written about Brad Marchand’s actions in the last minute of play of Game 3 against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

The Bruins pest was caught punching an unsuspecting Scott Harrington in the back of the head as the blue liner was on his knees late in the third game of the series, which was won by Columbus.

Harrington was not injured on the play, but many fans were outraged by Marchand’s actions.

While everyone reacted to the punch and called Marchand a bunch of names, it seems like the victim in all this believes we should let it go.

“I was trying to tell Bob where the puck was and felt a little shot in the back and that was it,” Harrington explained on Wednesday after practice.
“It was fine, I am good. Stuff like that is going to happen and we’re not going to make anything out of it. We saw that there was no suspension or anything: it’s a hockey play. It’s the playoff and that’s what it’s all about. You’re going to take some shots and we’re not going to let it linger past today.”

Harrington was then asked if he was surprised that Marchand was the culprit, but he refused to take a shot at his opponent.

“It’s a competitive game. Guys are trying their hardest on both sides and sometimes stuff like that happens with your emotions…”

Harrington knows how emotional games can get and surely looks ready for some more action tonight.

Playoff hockey, baby. Harrington knows where it’s at.
