What a legend.

I think Jaromir Jagr may have 100%, pure, unfiltered, hockey running through his veins at all times.

The ageless wonder has been one of the true marvels of the sport, at least during my lifetime, and it seems like every time you expect the ride to end Jagr just finds a way to keep moving forward. His ability to find and tackle new challenges has been impressive to be sure but Jagr may be taking on his biggest one yet this time around.

According to a recent report from Taylor Haase of DKPGH Sports, the living legend now finds himself in Beijing China of all places. Now Beijing is certainly not an irregular travel destination but it does not appear that Jagr is merely stopping in for visit. Instead the National Hockey League legend will be embarking on the next chapter of his amazing hockey journey thus far. Hasse is reporting that Jagr is currently in Beijing as an ambassador for the sport, and as it turns out he is doing so because he was inspired by another National Hockey League legend, Mario Lemieux.

You see Lemieux traveled to Prague in 1985 and it was a moment that, according to Jagr himself, totally changed his life. Jagr of course would eventually sneak his way onto a Pittsburgh Penguins by telling multiple teams in the draft that he would not be coming to North America, a story that he did not share with the Penguins, the team he wanted to be drafted by and the one who would end up drafting him. Jagr is now hoping to create a similar moment for a Chinese player and perhaps even find the next Jaromir Jagr during the 2020 Olympics in Beijing.

Now that may sound like merely a pipe dream, and given how unique Jagr is that is indeed likely the case, but Jagr is not going to be giving this a halfhearted effort. According to Haase's report Jagr will be assisting the Chinese national team in their preparations for the upcoming 2020 Olympics, so it sounds like he will get a hands on experience with the Chinese players. It will of course provide him with an up close look at the kind of talent the Chinese program will be working with in 2020.
