National Hockey League Jarmor Jagr expressed his desire to continue playing the NHL after this season, and now we know he will get his wish.

The Florida Panthers announced on Thursday that they have signed Jagr to a one year contract extension that could be worth as much as $5.5 million dollars with incentives, and while that may seem like a great deal to pay for a player of Jagr's advanced age, his number this season suggest he's worth the price.

Jagr appear in 79 games for the Panthers this season, and in those games he recorded a stunning 66 points, numbers that many much younger players could only hope to achieve. Not to mention it's clear the Panthers view him as more than just a player, but a role model and leader for their young stars, only adding to his value.

It's worth noting that this is only a one year deal, which may either point to the beginning of the end for Jagr, or may indicate that the Panthers believe he may be nearing the end of his NHL career.
