Jaromir Jagr tied Mark Messier for 2nd all time in points with his 3 assists tonight.
He picked up his 1885, 1886 and 1887th points. He also matched Messier in his 1,662nd game which is 94 games less than Messier.
Jagr has seemed to slow down a bit this season and many wonder if this might not be his last season. It would be fitting that he become the 2nd highest scorer in NHL history in his last season. Obviously if Jagr hadn't left the NHL for 3 seasons before coming back, he would have passed that total a while ago. He left the league when his was still producing at a solid rate and still had some solid years left. Even if he had stayed, he still would not be close to Gretzky's record.
If 1,887 points over 1,662 is impressive, Gretzky's total of 2,857 points is incredible. Jaromir was truly one of the greats to have played the game.
Congrats on reaching that milestone, now it is only a matter of time that he stands alone as the 2nd highest player in NHL history for points.
