Jesse Puljujarvi is looking for more!

The Edmonton Oilers clinched a playoff berth last season and they will look to count on their improved scouting and development system to return to the playoffs, under the leadership of Connor McDavid

Forward Jesse Puljujarvi will look to repeat his season’s beginning by starting the campaign in the roster. Puljujarvi stayed with the Oilers out of training camp, but was assigned to the American Hockey League in January as he struggled with effectiveness at both ends. His playmaking talents and his speed will be good assets to once again convince the Oilers to have him in the lineup.

Young wingers Tyler Benson and Kailer Yamamoto are also players to keep an eye on, although they might have to wait their turn to crack the roster this time around. Yamamoto was selected in the first round this past June, but needs to gain physical maturity to add to his impressive skills. Benson will get to bounce back from several injuries, and show his offensive upside and his sturdiness on the ice.

Defensemen Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear will get the chance to show off their skills and potentially add depth to the Oilers’ blue line.

Jones, younger brother of Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones, will turn pro this season. With his junior team in Portland last year, Jones put up 53 assists and nearly a point per game - a great asset to make it to the big leagues.

The Oilers certainly have improved their draft and development weaknesses and the best is yet to come…
