A NHL is often as strong as its farm club, for various reasons. First, you get the obvious chance to develop quality players into full time NHLers through exposure to other veteran ready to teach their tricks. You also have the opportunity to send down some member of the upper management, such as managers and coach, to get some valuable experience for a couple of seasons.
The Jets announced today their new affiliation with ECHL Jacksonville IceMen and the nomination of Jason Christie as their head coach.
This new team will be playing its first season during the 2017-2018 campaign and a lot has to be done. From recruiting quality players to simply winning a few games, a new club always represents a huge undertaking for new managers.
