One lucky Winnipeg Jets fan is having the night of his life thanks to Winnipeg Jets star forward Patrik Laine.

The young Jets sensation has been having a pretty damn good night of his own on Saturday racking up a total of 5 goals against the St. Louis Blues, goals that have helped propel his team to a 7 - 4 lead as the score currently stands. The night wraps up a rather impressive stretch for Laine who now has 11 goals in just his last 4 games and is suddenly making a real serious push in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy for the second consecutive season.

Now imagine how happy you would be if you were a Winnipeg Jets fan sitting at home who was hoping for a big night from unquestionably the organizations most talented young player. Pretty happy right? Well for one fan in Winnipeg Manitoba tonight there's an extra 1 million reasons to be happy about the outstanding performance from Laine this evening.

According to scoreandwinhcokey.com, the website that officially tracks the Score & Win promotion from Safeway and Sobey's, Christopher Haley of Winnipeg has just won a million dollars thanks to the 5 goals by Laine this evening. Now there's a couple of caveats to this promotion, after a quick look at the website I believe that the money will be entirely in gift card form, which means he will have to spend the money with Sobey's or Safeway, and it will be paid in increments of $50,000 per year. Now that may not sound like the best deal in the world, I know I would certainly prefer $1 million in cold hard cash, but there isn't a single person in the world who wouldn't benefit from $50,000 in free groceries each and every single year and that looks like it will be the case for Christopher Haley for the next 20 years.

Laine is currently in a contract year with the Winnipeg Jets and there's no doubt that a performance like the one that he put on tonight will go a long way towards earning him some additional millions of his own in the future, but tonight it almost inarguably improved the quality of life of one of his fans as well.
