Jets first round pick fails to impress, cut from the roster.

A disappointing start for this young man.

The Winnipeg Jets have sent their first round pick back down to the Ontario Hockey League.

While no official announcement has come from the team, according to a report from Mark Sheig of The Hockey Writers, defenseman Logan Stanley has been cut from training camp and will return to the Windsor Spitfires for the 2016-2017 season.

After a relatively shaky start to his career in the OHL, Stanley had an incredible sophomore season where he improved in nearly every relevant statistical category, including the number of penalty minutes he acquired over the course of a full season.

It's not surprised to see such a young defenseman sent back down, but with a young Winnipeg Jets squad that may be looking to move on from Jacob Trouba this still has to come as a minor disappointment for the 16th overall pick in this year's draft.

Should he continue to improve at the rate he has currently demonstrated however, it won't be long before you see him in a Winnipeg Jets uniform.
