The Winnipeg Jets have already seen their blue line decimated when compared to the talent that they fielded on defense last summer, and unfortunately for the Jets sometimes when it rains it pours.

According to a breaking news announcement directly from the Winnipeg Jets organization themselves, the team has just lost another defenseman and this time it is 24 year old blue liner Josh Morrissey who has gone down with an injury. What makes this all that much more difficult to take if you're a Jets fan is that the Jets are reporting that this injury somehow took place during the pregame warmups for tonight's contest against the New York Islanders.

We do not have very many details to go on at this time, however  the Jets did reveal that the injury sustained by Morrissey is of the "upper-body" variety. Obviously this is a huge loss for the Jets, and quite possibly an avoidable one at that, and we will have to wait and see how bad this injury turns out to be before we know just how bad this will be for the team.

The Jets of course lost veteran defenseman Jacob Trouba this summer when they chose to trade him rather than offer him a long term contract extension, this after several contract disputes with Trouba in the past. The team also lost the services of veteran defenseman Dustin Byfuglien who appears to be leaning towards retirement at this time, and the Jets did nothing to adequately replace the loss of either man on their blue line. Add the loss of Josh Morrissey to those two aforementioned holes on the blue line and you have to wonder what in the world head coach Paul Maurice is thinking right now with such a depleted defensive group.

Stay tuned for updates as we will be bringing more details to you when they become available.
