The Winnipeg Jets have announced that they’ve signed 21 year-old forward Mason Appleton to a three year, entry-level contract with an annual cap hit of just over $750,000.

The former sixth round pick (168th overall) of the Jets in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft recently completed his sophomore season at Michigan State University where he led the Spartans in goals, assists and points. In 35 games he potted 12 goals and produced 31 points.

The 6’2”, 193 lb winger is expected to make the leap to pro hockey in 2017-18, but it remains to be seen if that will be the the Jets or their AHL affiliate the Manitoba Moose.
