Young left winger John Hayden is making it hard for the Chicago Blackhawks to pass up his talents.

The 22-year-old who is having a great camp with the team, is on his way to cracking the roster and pushing established veterans out the door. According to the Sun Times, if Hayden makes the team, it means a veteran on a one-way contract won’t.

"Lance Bouma, Tommy Wingels and Jordin Tootoo all bring the grit and character that Quenneville craves, but keeping all three might be a little redundant."

Hayden had nine combined hits and twice picked a fight with nearly the entire Columbus Blue Jackets roster in two other preseason games. He also scored an impressive goal in the Hawks’ 4-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday.

There is still time until the start of the season, but the Hawks will have to figure out if they can afford to keep two or three of veterans, when a young player like Hayden pushing for playing time?
