With the announcement that Montreal Canadiens forward John Scott would be called up to the roster, but only for a single game, many have predicted that this could be his last moment as a National Hockey League player.

Scott however is not one of those people, and according to comments reported by NHL.com editor Arpon Basu Scott seems to believe that there's a real chance he can crack an NHL roster next season.

"Maybe I thought I played my last game this year. But I think I can get back in the NHL next year," said Scott.

As for getting to play this week for the Habs, Scott admits it caught him off guard, but he considers it an honor to play for such a storied franchise, and it sounds like he plans to make the most of the opportunity.

"It was a shock, but I’m super grateful to be here. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to play for the Canadiens."
