John Tortorella was the picture of serenity during a massive winning streak but now the Columbus Blue Jackets head coach is dealing with back to back losses and he has made an example of one of his players.

A report from Blue Jackets insider Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Post-Dispatch has revealed that backup goaltender Curtis McElhinney has been demoted down to the American Hockey Leagueafter a poor performance in a tough 5-4 loss to the New York Rangers on Saturday.

It's a surprising move due to the fact McElhinney has performed well this season, and such a demotion exposes him to the waiver process which could lead to a rival team claiming him. For some context, McElhinney has a 2.39 goals against average and 0.924 save percentage in 7 appearances for the Jackets this season.

The Blue Jackets have called up prospect Anton Forsberg from the American Hockey League's to fill the suddenly vacant roster spot.
