It is totally normal that NHL players get rusty after months trapped at home, waiting for hockey to return and activities on the ice to resume.

The Carolina Hurricanes just got the chance to jump back on the ice in Raleigh, after it took several more days to get the rink ready, and clearly rust is an issue there too…

And top forward Jordan Staal does not have an issue calling out his own teammate that is struggling to get back in action. On Tuesday, Staal was asked what he and his teammates did on the ice and he burned his own goalie James Reimer with his answer:

“You know, just ripping shots past Reims.”

Brutal!

Canes’ fans know all too well that their team will be facing the New York Rangers, a team they actually lost all 4 meetings with this season. To make things worse, if Carolina loses in the best-of-5 series, they won’t even have a chance to get the first overall pick because, well, they traded it ahead of the deadline to the Rangers.

We think Reimer might need a little more support if he wants to lead the Canes past the Rangers and not be haunted by the lost pick and lots games later on this year…

Come on Stallsy, encourage him instead!
