Josh Ho-Sang puts his foot in his mouth yet again

Will this kid ever get through a training camp without pissing off his coaches?

For the fourth training camp in a row Josh Ho-Sang is expected to make a strong push to make the New York Islanders’ roster. Despite a strong training camp and preseason a year ago, Ho-Sang started the season with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the third straight season.

You may recall that Ho-Sang slept in and was late for practice back in 2017. As a result he was shipped down to the AHL before seeing any preseason action. Last year Ho-Sang was in the mix to make the full-time squad but was ultimately cut by head coach Barry Trotz.

“I do have things I need to work on down here, my game is far from perfect. It can constantly improve. But I do think a lot of the stuff was unwarranted, especially in terms of the rope that other people were given,” Ho-Sang said at the time. “I understand I have a history and that might be a factor. I don’t know. But it’s frustrating to me.”

Now Ho-Sang is back at the Islanders training camp after signing a one year contract with the team and is looking to make his mark once again. And… well… it didn’t take long. The 22 year old is already making headlines at training camp.

I mean… technically he’s correct. But, in those 10 games Ho-Sang had just a goal and an assist. Leo Komarov was in the lineup for those 10 games, as well and there’s no one singing his praises…

At this point no one should be surprised by Ho-Sang’s sentiments though. The talented forward has a history of failing to take responsibility for himself and consistently puts the blame for his failures on others.

The good news for Ho-Sang is though that he has a real shot at cracking this Isles roster full-time. If he can’t though, don’t expect him back with the team next season. It’s now or never for the former 1st round pick.
