The annual NHL Draft Combine in Buffalo, NY has transformed from a small-scale event for NHL scouts and talent evaluators into a full-scale draft preview for team management and the hockey media. At this year's event dozens of 2017 draft eligible players put on physical show for the assembled crowd and the results are in. Behold, the cream of the crop for 2017:

Amongst the names, you’ll notice one glaring omission: projected first overall pick Nolan Patrick. The 18 year-old, Brandon Wheat Kings center has been plagued by injuries the past two seasons, but was thought to be 100% healthy for the combine. It’s unclear whether or not his low test scores are a result of his injury history or not. Interestingly, fellow first overall candidate Nico Hirschier of the Halifax Mooseheads ranked tops amongst all skaters for body weight pull-ups.

The biggest winner of the Draft Combine however was Spokane Chiefs forward Kailer Yamamoto. He ranked near the tops in almost each test and should see his draft stock rise as a result.
