About midway through the period between a hotly contested back-and-forth tilt between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes, centre Nazem Kadri was hit directly in the head area with a high elbow from Lawson Crouse.

The hit took him out of the game - and he did not return.

Following the game, head coach Mike Babcock spoke about the loss of Kadri, but reportedly sounded like he could return as early as tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.

Upon closer inspection, the hit appears to have hit the neck rather than the head, so if it isn't serious, they likely can put him right back in as there would be no need for a concussion protocol inspection.

The Leafs won the game 7-4 despite Kadri's absence.
