Kane pulled out of lineup for mysterious reason

The San Jose Sharks have announced that they will be without the services of star blue liner Erik Karlsson for at least a week because of what is believed to be a groin injury.

However, he won't be the only key player missing from tonight's game against the Colorado Avalanche.

Head coach Peter DeBoer announced after practice on Friday that forward Evander Kane would not be in the lineup for Friday night's tilt. However, the coach only said that the star forward came down with “something” and believes he won't be out for too long.

This is quite mysterious and some fans have gotten worried seeing that Kane was the victim of a high hit on Tuesday night at the hands of Boston Bruins giant defenseman Zdeno Chara. When Kane skated to fight him, he also received serious blows to the back of the head in the fight. NHL Player Safety reviewed the hit and determined that no supplemental discipline would be necessary for Chara.

The Sharks did not say after the last contest if Kane had suffered an injury on the hit or during the fight. He did end the game and commented to reporters after his team's loss.

“I watched the replay. It looks like he elevates his shoulder into my head,” Kane said. “I know he’s a big boy. We’ve seen it throughout the league — looks the exact same to me.”

We will see if Kane will miss more than the one game. For now, we know very little about his condition.
