The UFA market was pretty hectic today and huge contracts have been signed and awarded. The biggest one went to Karl Alzner, former Capitals and now member of the Canadiens. After spending 9 years exclusively in the Caps organization, the 28 years old is now moving on to a new challenge.

Most of the times, players will leave heartfelt letters to former teammates and fans in a last show of respect. Alzner went a different way today and here's the comments that struck out the most.

This is totally humiliating for Washington fans. Alzner says he's leaving good memories behind, which is fair game, but highlight how bad the team performed in recent playoffs. On top of it, he says he has an intense drive to win and he's happy to join the Canadiens in order to do so.

Alzner is not the first player to highlight the shortcomings of the Caps and leave the team in the dust. This one will leave a mark for sure, as Alzner was well appreciated by both the fans and his teammates until the last minute. You have to admire how he speaks his mind without holding back though!
