Karlsson walks out of a scrum after being asked an uncomfortable question

Come on Erik, this is not the way to handle the situation!

It wasn't a great for the San Jose Sharks: Auston Matthews recorded two goals and an assist in his return to the lineup after missing 14 games with a shoulder injury as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Californian team 5-3 for their third straight victory.

And the night didn't get better for defenseman Erik Karlsson after the contest...

Surrounded by media members in the Sharks dressing room after the loss, Karlsson could have answered a few questions about the game, but the attention seemed only focused to his comeback to Ottawa later on this week as San Jose heads to the nation's capital for a contest against the Senators on Saturday.

The star blue liner had a rough outing against the Leafs as he finished the game with 0 points and a -1 rating in the loss. While the media could have focused on his performance or the team's loss, Karlsson was asked what appeared to be an uncomfortable question by one media member. Visibly rattled by the question, Karlsson abruptly walked away after being asked about his upcoming return to Ottawa.

Here is how the scrum came to an end:

Clearly, the former Senators captain isn't looking forward to his return in Ottawa, the city he called his home on more than one occasion during the press conference following his trade to San Jose back in September.

While everyone expected Karlsson to land in San Jose and be an immediate difference maker this season, it has yet to be the case after the first quarter of the regular calendar. The Sharks may currently be currently sitting in second place of the Pacific Division, the team managed to accumulate just a 12-9-5 record.

Known for his impressive offensive skills, Karlsson has yet to show San Jose fans when he can do on the scoresheet: the veteran blue liner has collected two goals and 13 assists through 26 games this season. Not what fans are used to see from the Norris Trophy winner.

One thing is clear, Karlsson could have handle the question on his upcoming return to Ottawa in a different way. He could have simply informed the media members present in the scrum that he wants to focus on this past game... Instead, he made it clear to everyone that he isn't looking forward to making a comeback to his former team's arena.
