San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson was back in a familiar place yesterday as his Sharks visited the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena. Of course, the former Ottawa Senators captain spent many years playing against the Leafs during his time with the Sens and is now preparing to face his old squad this weekend in Ottawa.

Karlsson has gone on record saying that he expects Saturday afternoon’s game to be an emotional one and that he’s hoping for a positive reception from the Senators faithful, but when asked the upcoming game by some members of the Toronto media though, Karlsson clammed up and walked out of the room.

Check it out:

WTF was that!?

You can’t even stand there and hear the guy out?

In any case, it’s clear that Saturday’s return is weighing heavily on Karlsson’s mind. With two goals and 15 points in 26 games with the Sharks this season, it’s not as if Karlsson has been playing bad… it’s just… people expected more of him when the Sharks acquired him this past offseason. He and the Sharks have begun heating up lately, so here’s hoping he puts on a show for the Ottawa crowd on Saturday.
